What it’s like
A dog-friendly country pub near Sherwood Forest with a kids' play area, Sunday roasts and an outdoor cinema doing musicals.
This is a proper pub meal out rather than an activity centre, but there's a children's play area outside so you're not stuck at the table the whole time. The site also lists family events, character brunches and an outdoor cinema showing musicals, so it's worth a look at what's on before you go if you want to time it right.
Food runs pub classics: pies, tapas, pizzas, burgers, and the Sunday roast, which they say is their most popular day and the one they push hardest to book ahead for. Food service is 10am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 9pm Saturday, and 12pm to 7pm on Sunday, with the bar itself open later. They cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, but say to flag allergies when you book or order so they can do it properly.
Dogs are welcome in the bar areas, the dining domes and outside, with water bowls put out in those spots, and it's about 15 minutes from Sherwood Forest if you fancy a walk either side of lunch. There's on-site parking plus an overflow field for busy periods, which tells you weekends and events can get properly full.
Booking isn't compulsory but they're pretty clear that walk-ins only work "where space allows", and for weekends, Sunday roasts or events they want you booked in to guarantee a table. Beyond the family stuff there's a private hire room called The Stables for birthdays, weddings, baby showers and corporate events, plus live music in the bar on Fridays and acoustic sets or Pizza & Sax evenings out on the terraces through summer.
