What it’s like
A day of animal feeding, tractor rides and fairground bits, with a soft play barn and sandpit thrown in for wet or sunny days.
The animals are the point here, and they've built the day around getting hands on with them. There are petting sessions daily, chick cuddling, and rabbit and guinea pig "fishing" (their word, not mine), plus feeding bags so the kids get proper jobs to do rather than just staring through fences. Tractor rides run alongside all that, and there's a pirate ship and cable runway if they need to burn off some of the excitement before lunch.
Beyond the animals it turns into a proper mixed day out. Mini crazy golf, a carousel and chairoplanes, jumping pillows (socks compulsory, so pack a spare pair), and a sledge run for the over-threes. The sandpit with buckets and diggers only runs April to September, so don't build a summer memory around it in February. Indoor soft play covers you if the weather turns, though buggies aren't allowed inside the PlayBarn itself, so you'll want the undercover buggy park for that bit.
Food-wise, the PlayBarn Café does the usual jacket potatoes, pastas and toasties, and there's a Munch Box kiosk for ice creams on weekends and school holidays between 11am and 4pm. Picnics are fine in the outdoor areas but not inside the café, which is a bit of a faff if it's chucking it down and you'd packed sandwiches. Parking's free, which takes the sting out of the entry price a bit.
Birthday parties run weekend mornings or afternoons and include three hours of farm access plus food and a party room, and the school visit rate at £9.50 a head with one free adult per five kids makes it an easy one for a class trip. Everything's wheelchair and pushchair friendly except the upstairs play area, so most of the day is genuinely open to everyone.

Petting sessions, chick cuddling, ride-on toys and jumping pillows all suit younger kids, though socks are compulsory on the pillows.

The whole park is pushchair friendly and there's an undercover buggy park, but prams aren't allowed inside the PlayBarn itself for fire safety.

The PlayBarn Café does jacket potatoes, pastas, toasties and the like, and the Munch Box kiosk sells ice cream and drinks on weekends and school holidays. Picnics are welcome outdoors but not inside the café.
