What it’s like
Woodland sessions where kids explore a stream, build fires and get properly muddy, term by term rather than one-off drop-ins.
This is proper outdoor time, not a nature walk with a worksheet. Kids play and explore the woodland, head down to a nearby stream, and end sessions round the fire with a communal snack and hot chocolate. It's aimed at children from about 18 months up, though the site is clear that younger siblings can tag along even if they can't join every activity at the same level.
You sign up for a whole term rather than booking single sessions, which is a bigger commitment than most forest school outfits ask for. Worth deciding you're in before you commit, since there's no dipping a toe in with a one-off visit. Each session is capped at 17 family groups, so it stays small enough that the fire circle and stream visits do not turn into a scrum.
Dress for it properly: trousers, layers, and wellies or sturdy boots, because the ground gets unstable and this runs in most weather. They'll put up a shelter for showers, and only cancel outright when heavy rain is forecast, with refunds if that happens. There's a small bridge and an uneven path to get to the site, though buggies and bikes are fine to park up once you're there.
The fireside snack is vegetarian, with vegan options where they can manage it, but it's timed for near the end, so pack something extra if your child needs feeding sooner. Arrive at the grassed clearing ten minutes before the start time; they're specific about that, which suggests latecomers might miss the briefing.

Plan your visit
Do we book a single session or a term?
You sign up for the whole term. There's no option to book a one-off visit.
What age is it suitable for?
Sessions are pitched at children 18 months and up. Younger siblings can come along too, they just won't manage every activity.
What should we bring or wear?
Trousers, layers, and wellies or sturdy boots. The ground gets unstable and sessions run in most weather.
Is there food during the session?
A fireside snack and hot chocolate comes near the end, always vegetarian with vegan options where possible. Bring an extra snack if your child gets hungry earlier.
What happens if it's pouring with rain?
It generally goes ahead, with a shelter put up for showers. If heavy, persistent rain is forecast they may cancel and offer refunds.
Can we bring a buggy or bike?
Yes, there's space to park them at the site, but you'll need to get over a small bridge and along an uneven path to reach it.
