What it’s like
Free-roam VR zombie combat, competitive shooter battles and escape rooms, strapped in with your own headset for the session.
You get kitted out with your own headset (no sharing allowed, even with your best mate) and dropped into a 6.2m by 6.2m play space for the Free-Roam experiences. There's zombie combat in the Premium room, Dead Ahead and Cook'd Up in the Arcade version, plus Smash Point if you fancy a competitive VR shootout, and VR Escape Rooms for something that needs a bit more thinking. There's also a stack of 60-plus Xtra Games covering single-player and multiplayer sessions, so a group with mixed tastes isn't stuck doing the same thing.
This is a 7-plus venue, and that age floor is there for a reason: the kit and the space genuinely need a bit of size and confidence to use properly. Under-16s can't be left on-site, so an adult needs to stay for the whole session rather than dropping the kids and nipping off for a coffee. Every booking starts with an onboarding, roughly five minutes of "here's how this works", which is worth factoring into your timings if you've booked back-to-back activities that day.
Walk-ins happen but aren't guaranteed, and the site is upfront that peak periods can mean turning people away, so booking ahead is the sensible move rather than a formality. Tuesdays are shut completely, term time or holidays, which is an easy one to forget. If you're mid-session and having a good time, staff can usually extend it on the spot, subject to what's free.
Glasses wearers are fine, most regular frames fit under the headsets. Free-roam is more of a squeeze if mobility is limited, since it relies on moving freely around that shared space, though plenty of the seated or fixed experiences are more accessible.

Plan your visit
What's the minimum age?
Seven, and it applies across all the experiences. It's there for safety and to make sure players actually understand what they're doing in the headset.
Do we need to book ahead?
You don't have to, but it's advised. Walk-ins during busy periods might not get squeezed in.
Can two of us share a headset to save money?
No, every player needs their own headset for the booking. No sharing, no swapping mid-session.
Can I drop my child off and come back later?
Under-16s need an adult on-site for the whole session. Staff can't take responsibility for supervising them.
What happens when we arrive?
You'll get an onboarding first, so a quick run-through of the equipment and the experience, which takes about five minutes depending on the group.
Is it OK if I wear glasses?
Most traditional glasses fit fine under the VR kit. If you're unsure, pop into store beforehand and ask them to check the fit.
What if I've got limited mobility?
Plenty of experiences work well, but Free-Roam VR needs you to move around a 6.2 by 6.2 metre shared space, so that one's trickier if movement is restricted.
Can we extend our session if we're enjoying it?
Usually yes, just ask a staff member and they'll extend it if there's availability.
Do you do birthday parties?
Parties and events run here but need booking in advance rather than turning up on the day.
What days are you closed?
Tuesdays, all year round, term time and holidays alike. Every other day they're open from early afternoon.
