Valley Coffee
WHERE
Preston
What it’s like
A café with an outdoor play area attached, plus breakfast and brunch, gift vouchers and wifi if you need to sit and work.
There's a playground outside so the kids have somewhere to go while you're still on your first coffee, and the kitchen does breakfast, brunch and lunch if you're making a proper stop of it rather than just passing through. No table booking needed, which takes the pressure off if you're the sort who decides on the day.
The hours are a bit of a puzzle worth knowing before you set off. Most weekdays it shuts at 3pm, Thursday it stretches to 7pm, and Saturday it's a 9 to 2 window only, with Sundays closed altogether. The kitchen itself keeps slightly shorter hours than the café, so if lunch is the plan, get there before 4pm on weekdays or 2pm on a Saturday.
It's allergy aware with vegetarian options on the menu, which is handy if you're juggling different eaters at the table. There's a gift shop too, and gift cards from £10 upwards if you fancy setting someone up with a return visit. With fast wifi on top, it works as easily for a laptop-and-coffee hour as it does for a family stop with the play area doing the entertaining.
