What it’s like

Two soft play frames and a baby-only corner for under-fives, with a proper café menu to fall back on.

This one's built for the very young end of soft play, nought to four, so there's none of the bigger kids barrelling through on their way to a drop slide. The three storey frame has a wave slide, a giant ball pool and a football pitch, while a smaller two storey frame with its own slide and a bubble fish tank gives you a second spot to head for when the first gets busy. Babies who aren't climbing yet get a separate safe area with walkers, toys and a home corner, kept apart from the bigger frames.

Pricing is banded by age rather than one flat fee. Under six months get in free, and it climbs from there depending on the day, with weekends and half term costing a bit more than term time. Adults pay £1 at weekends, which is a nice touch rather than the usual free-for-grown-ups deal.

The food side is properly done rather than an afterthought, with sandwiches, main meals, a children's menu and homemade cakes alongside the usual tea and coffee. Birthday parties start from £11.75 a child and include play, a party host and hot food, with mascots as an option if you want to push the boat out.

One thing worth knowing: they reserve the right to close early during quieter periods, so if you're planning a visit right at the end of the day it's not guaranteed. Otherwise it's open every day, with slightly shorter Sunday hours.
