What it’s like
A mini role-play village of shops and services for under-7s, with a climbing frame and a toddler corner for the smaller ones.
The pull here is the little village set-up rather than a straightforward soft play. Your child can pretend to run the market stall, work the beauty and hair salon, patch someone up in the ambulance bay or fix a car in the mechanic's garage, and there's a fire station and police corner too if they'd rather be sirens-and-blue-lights than hairdresser for the day. A two-tier climbing structure covers the bigger movement play, and there's a separate toddler area away from the older kids for anyone still finding their feet.
It suits the 0 to 7 range well, and babies under 11 months can tag along free if you've already got an older child booked in. Sessions run in three slots each weekday, roughly 9:15-11am, 12-1:45pm and 2:30-4:15pm, and you do need to book ahead rather than just turning up. Socks are compulsory for every child and adult going into the soft play, so that's one for the memory before you leave the house.
There's a café on site doing hot and cold drinks and food, but outside snacks aren't allowed in, which is a bit of a faff if you've got a fussy toddler mid-meltdown over someone else's biscuits. Parking is free at the Ancient Oak Pub nearby. Outdoor play equipment comes out May to September, so a wet or wintry visit means the village and the climbing frame are your lot, which for most under-7s is still plenty to fill a session.
Birthday parties get the whole place to themselves for an hour and forty-five minutes on Saturdays or selected weekdays, with party food and invites built in. Worth knowing that cancellations aren't refunded, though they'll try to move your booking if you give more than 24 hours notice.
