What it’s like
A community theatre and cinema venue putting on touring shows, music, dance and screenings, with tickets from £29.
This is a theatre hall doing the classic mix of live shows, touring comedy, dance, music and cinema screenings. Dom Joly's Trigger Happy TV tour is one on the books at £29 a standard ticket, with a premium option at £75 if you want the better seats.
Booking works online any time or by phone Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, and the box office counter itself only opens 45 minutes before a show starts. That £1.50 online booking fee (or £1 on the phone) stings a bit for what's otherwise a straightforward ticket, and it's worth knowing there's no fee at all if you book at the counter or through Thornden School Reception instead.
Under-twos aren't admitted unless a show is specifically billed for them, and every child over 24 months needs their own ticket even sitting on a lap, so this isn't one for a babe in arms unless the listing says otherwise. Once you're in, there's a licensed bar doing wine, beer, gin, soft drinks, hot drinks and the usual crisps and ice cream, open from 45 minutes before curtain and again in the interval.
One genuine catch: the seating is raked with no handrail on the stairs, so if wheelchair access or mobility support matters, it's a call to the box office first rather than turning up and hoping. The front row can be reconfigured for wheelchairs on request. Tickets also can't be exchanged or refunded unless the show itself is cancelled, so it's worth being sure of your date before you book.

How much are tickets?
Prices vary by show. Dom Joly's Trigger Happy TV runs £29 standard or £75 premium, and concessions often apply for children, students and over-60s.
How do we book?
Online any time, or by phone Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. There's a small booking fee online or by phone, but none if you buy at the counter.
Can we bring a toddler?
Under-twos aren't admitted unless a show is specifically advertised as suitable for them. Anyone over 24 months needs their own ticket, even on a lap.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
The seating is raked with no handrail on the stairs, so it's best to call the box office ahead to sort out access. The front row is at floor level and can be reconfigured for wheelchairs.
What if we need to cancel or arrive late?
Tickets can't be exchanged or refunded unless the performance itself is cancelled. Latecomers are usually let in through the rear doors, though you might have to wait for a break in the show.
Is there food or drink?
A licensed bar sells wine, beer, gin, soft drinks, hot drinks and snacks like crisps, sweets and ice cream. It opens 45 minutes before the show and during the interval.
