What it’s like

Pro-standard indoor pickleball courts with junior coaching and open play sessions for kids and adults alike.

Pickleball's easier to pick up than it sounds, and this is a proper set-up for it: indoor courts built to a pro standard, paddles and balls supplied if you haven't got your own, and coaching sessions aimed at juniors as well as open play where different skill levels mix in. If your kid's never held a paddle, that's fine, they'll lend you demo ones to try before you commit to buying anything.

Under-16s are welcome but need to be registered on a parent or guardian's membership or booking, and they'll want supervising unless they're in a proper coaching session or junior programme, so it's not a drop-and-go for younger ones. That's a fair rule for a sports venue with adults sharing the courts, but worth knowing before you plan to nip off for a coffee.

Speaking of which, there is a café-bar on site doing paninis, pastries and the usual snack-bar stuff, plus hot drinks and soft drinks if it's a family visit rather than an adults' night out. What there isn't is anywhere to change or shower. Wheelchair users are catered for with step-free access throughout and accessible toilets, and parking's free on site, which takes the sting out of a sport that can otherwise nickel-and-dime you on equipment.

It's a short walk from Chandlers Station if you fancy leaving the car at home, and the X6 and X7 buses stop nearby too.
