What it’s like

A pub with pool, darts and foosball plus quiz nights and karaoke, family friendly earlier in the evening.

This is a proper pub setup rather than a soft play, so the appeal for kids is the games. There's pool, a dart board and foosball to have a go on, board games on the tables, and a kids menu if you're stopping for food. It suits an evening where the adults fancy a pint and the kids can be kept busy without needing entertaining every five minutes.

The catch is timing. Under 18s are only allowed in with a responsible adult, and the cut-off is 8pm Sunday to Thursday but as early as 7pm on Friday and Saturday. So a family trip really means an earlier sitting, not a late one. Management can also refuse entry to under 18s during high profile events, which is worth bearing in mind if there's something big on.

Food runs from breakfasts through to steaks and curries, with the usual pub classics, burgers, fish and chips and pies alongside. They say they cater to all dietary requirements, and food service stops at 9pm most days, 10pm on Saturday. There's karaoke, quiz nights and music bingo too if you fancy staying on once the kids' window has closed, though that's very much an adults-later affair.

Booking a table is straightforward online or by phone, and some bookings need a deposit that just gets used as a bar tab on the day. Wheelchair access and an accessible toilet are both there, and it's dog friendly if that's part of your plans.
