What it’s like
A small Bath theatre putting on family-friendly shows and children's author events, with a licensed bar for the interval.
This is a proper theatre rather than a soft play with a stage bolted on, so what you're getting here is family-friendly productions and children's author or storytelling events rather than anything with a ball pit. It's run by Next Stage Theatre Company, who also do the Theatre in Education work, so there's a bit of pedigree behind what's on.
Tickets are £10 for a child and £15 for an adult, or £40 for a family ticket covering two adults and two children (or one adult and three). That's not pocket change for an evening out, but it does buy you a proper sit-down show rather than a school hall production. The bar opens 45 minutes before most performances and through the interval, doing soft drinks, cakes and crisps alongside the alcohol.
Worth knowing before you book: the main auditorium has full wheelchair access and ground-floor toilets, but the Theatre Upstairs and its bar don't, so if that matters, check which space your show is in. Parking is at Avon Street Car Park opposite, and there's on-road parking nearby in the evenings and at weekends, which is handy since the office itself only runs office hours Monday to Friday.
If you fancy paying by card in person or online, that's fine, but some events are ticketed through Bath Box Office separately.

How much are tickets?
£15 for an adult, £13 concession, £10 for a child. A family ticket covering two adults and two children, or one adult and three children, is £40.
Can we book online and pay by card?
Next Stage Box Office takes debit cards in person or online, plus cash or cheque. Some events at the theatre are ticketed through Bath Box Office instead, who take card payments by phone or on their own website.
What's on for kids?
Children's author events, storytelling sessions and family-friendly theatrical productions. There's also Next Stage Youth, a drama group for 11 to 18 year olds, though that meets at a partner venue rather than the theatre itself.
Is there parking nearby?
Avon Street Car Park is right opposite the theatre. There's also on-road parking near the theatre in the evenings and at weekends.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
The Main Auditorium has full wheelchair access and ground-floor toilets. The Theatre Upstairs and its bar aren't accessible, though a downstairs bar with full access runs before most shows.
What food and drink is available?
A fully licensed Theatre Bar does alcoholic and soft drinks, cakes, crisps and peanuts. It opens 45 minutes before most productions and during the interval.
Can we visit during the day just to look round?
No, the theatre is often in use for corporate events, festivals or daytime matinees so it isn't set up for casual tours. You can pop into the office Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 5:30, to speak to someone or book tickets in person.
