Weston-super-Mare

What it’s like

Small theatre putting on family shows and interactive performances, including music sessions for the under-6s crowd.

This is a proper little theatre doing proper theatre things for kids, not soft play with a stage bolted on. Shows like Kid Carpet & The Noisy Animals lean into the interactive side, so expect your child to be part of the action rather than just watching it. There's also a Playtime version of Ratty's Birthday pitched at under-6s, and Rock the Tots music sessions if you've got a toddler who needs somewhere to shake a maraca that isn't your living room.

The ticketing is pay-what-you-decide, with a minimum price and a recommended one. That's a nice idea and it means you're not priced out if things are tight, though it does put you on the spot a bit when you're stood at the counter deciding what your afternoon is worth. Refreshments are on site, so you're not having to smuggle snacks in under a coat.

Access is properly sorted: step-free throughout, wheelchair-friendly seating, accessible toilets. Assistance dogs are welcome too. It's a seven minute walk from the train station and the central bus station, so if you're coming from Bristol or further afield you're not relying on a car.

Parking is the one bit that needs a plan. There's the Carlton Street NCP and Walliscote Place car parks nearby, or free on-street parking about ten minutes' walk away if you fancy the stroll and don't mind the extra faff with a buggy.
