What it’s like

A youth theatre and stage for 8 to 18 year olds, with drama training, musicals and pantomime through the year.

This is where teenagers actually get on stage rather than just watch one. The youth theatre runs drama training and performances for 8 to 18 year olds, so if your kid's been begging for something more than a school play, this is a step up. The main house also puts on musicals and pantomime, so there's plenty to see even if your child isn't the one performing.

Standard tickets are £19.50, concessions £18, and if you fancy Row L you're paying a bit more at £20.50. The one that actually matters if you've got an older teen is the under-25 deal: £5 on the day, subject to availability, but you can only book it at the Box Office in person or by phone, and they may ask for proof of age. That's a proper saving if you're not fussed about picking your exact seat.

Arrive with time to spare. They ask you to collect tickets at least 15 minutes before curtain up, and the Dover Street car park opposite fills up early on show nights, so factor that in rather than sprinting in at the last minute. The bar is card only, no cash, which catches people out.

Access is properly thought through: automatic doors, no steps to most of the ground floor, a lift up to the auditorium, and wheelchair spaces in row D with escort seats next to them. Wheelchair users are asked to be in the foyer half an hour early so Front of House can help. Worth knowing that some backstage areas aren't easy for wheelchair users, if that's relevant to your visit.

£19.50 standard, £18 concessions, £20.50 for Row L. Under-25s can get £5 tickets on the day at the Box Office, subject to availability.

For most seats, yes, book ahead. The £5 under-25 tickets are the exception; those are only sold on the day, in person or by phone.

What age is this actually for?

The youth theatre trains and performs 8 to 18 year olds. Main house shows like musicals and pantomime are open to watch beyond that age range too.

How early should we arrive?

They recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the show starts to collect or buy tickets. Wheelchair users are asked to be in the foyer half an hour early.

Where do we park?

Is it accessible for wheelchairs?

Yes, automatic doors and no steps to most of the ground floor, plus a lift to the auditorium and wheelchair spaces in row D with escort seating alongside. Some backstage areas are harder to access though.
