What it’s like
A free, low-key coffee shop and field with Rhyme Time, toddler craft and a teddy bear clinic for the smaller ones.
This is a gentle one: a community coffee shop with an outdoor field and children's park attached, built around sessions for babies and preschoolers rather than big rides or paid attractions. Rhyme Time and toddler craft sessions are the regulars, and there's Dr Brown Bear's Teddy bear clinic on the list too, which is exactly the sort of thing a three-year-old will talk about for a week.
Entry's free, and with free parking for 20 cars on site you're not paying just to turn up. The coffee shop does tea, coffee and cakes, so it works as a proper stop rather than just a quick pass-through, and there's wifi if you're trying to answer emails while someone's on the swings.
Hours are worth clocking before you go: term time weekdays it opens at 8am, but school and bank holidays push that back to 9am, and Saturdays it's 10am to 4pm only. Sundays it's shut altogether, so don't plan a Sunday visit around this one. There's also a small gift shop if you want a little something on the way out.
Because it's outdoor and field-based, a dry morning makes a real difference here, and the sessions like Rhyme Time and craft are the bit to build a visit around rather than turning up and hoping something's on.
