What it’s like

Bowling, crazy golf, curling and a five-minute VR ride all under one roof, with five food outlets to fall back on.

There's a proper stack of things to do here rather than just one big draw. Bowling and crazy golf are the obvious starting points, but there's also curling, shuffleboard, cue golf and a golf simulator, plus a VR ride that gives you a five-minute adventure built around a three-minute experience, which is a strange bit of maths but works out as a decent go for £6 a person. A cinema sits alongside all of it if the weather or the mood calls for sitting still for once.

It suits a wide age range because you can mix and match. A two-year-old can toddle round crazy golf while an older sibling has a go on the golf simulator, and nobody has to sit out. The VR ride is the one bit that doesn't work for wheelchair users, and the crazy golf course has sharp corners and uneven flooring that can be a squeeze for bigger wheelchairs, so worth bearing in mind if that's part of your group.

Food isn't an afterthought. There are five separate outlets on site, from a proper restaurant and a fish and chip place to a coffee bar, a bar and an ice cream counter, so you're not stuck with one soggy café menu for the whole visit. Everything's card only though, so leave the cash at home.

Parking's free with no time limit, which takes the pressure off if you end up staying longer than planned. Pre-booking is recommended rather than essential. Birthday parties get their own function rooms and can be combined with bowling, curling or crazy golf, so the cake bit and the activity bit don't have to happen in separate places.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

The VR ride is £6 a person. Other activities like bowling, crazy golf and curling aren't priced on the site but can be added to a visit or a party booking.

Do we need to book?

Pre-booking is recommended but not essential, so walk-ups are accepted. It's worth calling ahead for busy weekend slots.

What age is it suitable for?

From age 2 upwards, with activities that flex easily between a toddler and an older sibling on the same visit.

Is there parking?

Free on-site parking with no time limit, plus 11 disabled parking spaces.

What's there to eat?

Five outlets on site: Blooms Restaurant, The Ocean Fish and Chip Restaurant, Oasis Coffee Bar, Barbossa bar and Knickerbockers Ice Cream.

Can we pay by cash?

No, it's card only throughout the venue.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Mostly yes, with wheelchair putters, bowling ramps and curling aids available and accessible front rows in all three cinema screens. The VR ride isn't wheelchair accessible and the crazy golf course has sharp corners and uneven flooring that can be tricky for larger wheelchairs.

Can we book a birthday party there?

Function rooms are available for parties and can be combined with bowling, curling, crazy golf or other activities.

How big are the function rooms?

The David Murdoch Room holds up to 40 theatre-style or 80 combined with the adjacent room, the Copper Lounge takes up to 60, and the cinema screens seat up to 56. The Super Bowl package for 160 opens up the Copper Lounge, all 8 bowling lanes and the Barbossa bar.

Can we bring our own food to a party?

On-site catering covers all the hire spaces, but it's worth speaking to the events team if you'd rather bring your own food or drink.

What are the opening hours?

9:30am to 10:30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 9:30am to 10:45pm Friday and Saturday. Hours change over Christmas and New Year, and the venue is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Can we look round before booking a party?

Venue tours are available on request. Call or email the events team to arrange one.
