What it’s like

A small arts venue in Belfast with comedy nights, film screenings, spoken word and live music, plus a proper bar three nights a week.

This one's for the grown-ups. There's no children's programme here, so leave the kids with someone else and come for comedy at £5, film screenings from £4.40, spoken word or theatre from £12, and live music at £20. The Belfast Improv Festival gets its own ticket at £10, and there's a catch-all £6.50 for whatever else lands on the calendar.

The Green Room bar is the social heart of the place, open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 11pm, and it runs as Black Moon DJ nights for £6 on top of whatever's happening on stage. There's a café too, so you can turn a film or a comedy set into a proper evening out without needing to go looking for somewhere to eat afterwards.

Access has clearly had real thought put into it. The building is step-free throughout with push-button automatic doors, there are hearing loops in both the main venue and the Green Room, and reserved viewing spaces and PA or carer tickets are available if you get in touch in advance. Audio description and sign language support can be booked too, which is more than a lot of venues this size manage.

The office runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm, which is your window for anything that needs sorting by phone rather than online. Taxis can drop right at the front door, and the nearest accessible parking is at St Anne's Cathedral, a couple of minutes' walk away.
