What it’s like

A free outdoor skate park next to a full playground with swings, a climbing frame and a basketball hoop.

This is really two spaces in one. There's the skate park itself for wheels and boards, and right next to it a proper playground setup: a spring rocker, roundabout, see-saw, spinning pole, stepping stones and a multi-play climbing frame with a slide built in. So if you've got one kid who's into skating and a younger one who isn't, nobody has to sit this one out.

There's a basketball hoop and football goal posts too, which is handy if you've forgotten a ball but someone else hasn't. The picnic tables scattered around mean you can bring your own lunch and make a proper afternoon of it rather than a quick in-and-out.

It's free to get in and there's free parking, which makes it an easy one to just turn up to without planning around a session time or a booking. The site's listed as wheelchair accessible too, which is worth knowing if you've got a buggy or a wheelchair user in the group, since outdoor play spaces don't always manage that.

Being outdoors, it's obviously weather-dependent, so a dry, mild day is when this one earns its keep. There's no need to book and no entry fee, so it's the kind of spot you can decide on that morning.
