What it’s like
Real electric karts on a multi-level indoor track, with a Mini Racer option for kids as young as four.
The proper karts here need a bit of height and a bit of nerve. Child karts start at 8 years old, and only if they're at least 1.2 metres tall with a 25 inch inside leg, so measure your kid at home before you get their hopes up. Under that, there's Mini Racers for 4 to 7 year olds between 1.0m and 1.4m, which is the sensible way in if you've got a younger one desperate to copy an older sibling. Adult karts kick in at 13. There's also Sixes Interactive Cricket for 5 and up if racing isn't the only thing on the agenda that day.
You don't need a licence and nobody's expected to know what they're doing. Staff talk you through it before you're anywhere near the track, and you're given a race suit and helmet on arrival. Bring your own balaclava or buy a reusable one for £3.99, and wear proper trainers, nothing open-toed. Book to arrive 40 minutes before your slot, and each driver gets 40 to 60 minutes of actual karting, which sounds like a faff until you remember that's the bit that's expensive to rush.
Booking is essential and payment is taken up front and it is non-refundable, so a change of plan costs you unless you've paid the extra £1 per driver for the Flexi-book option to amend it. Card only here, no cash, and no outside food allowed either, so eat before or budget for their bar and kitchen, which does veggie, vegan, gluten-free and halal options plus the usual smoothies and milkshakes. Spectating is free and you don't need to book for that, so grandparents or younger siblings who aren't racing can just turn up and watch from the bar area.
It's open daily 9am to 11pm and there's on-site parking with accessible bays near the entrance. One genuine catch if wheelchair access matters to you: the pit lane itself is stairs only, so the downstairs track area isn't accessible even though the rest of the venue is. If you're coming by train, Watford High Street has direct services from Euston, but it's a 25 minute walk from there, so factor that into your 40 minute arrival window.
