St George Community Centre
WHERE
Bristol
What it’s like
A community centre with a rotating run of toddler groups, rugby, martial arts and yoga sessions rather than one big attraction.
This is a proper community hall setup rather than a soft play or a farm park, so don't expect a single big draw. What's on offer is a run of different classes through the week: Time for Tots for the parent and toddler crowd, Rugbytots for the ones who've found their feet and want to chase a ball, Tae Kwon Do for the slightly older kids who fancy kicking something in a controlled way, and music sessions with Maya for the ones who'd rather bang a tambourine than run about.
There's also Mama & Mini strength and sculpt classes and yoga including pregnancy yoga, so it's not purely a kids' venue. If you've got a toddler and you're after your own workout at the same time, that combination's actually quite handy.
Getting there without a car is straightforward. It sits on the route of the 635, 42/43 and 44/45 buses, with stops close by at Seneca Street and Northcote Road depending on which direction you're coming from. Bike parking's available too if that's how you're rolling up.
What you won't find laid out here is a big attraction to fill an afternoon. This is more the kind of regular booking you build a week around, dropping in for a set class rather than turning up to browse.
