What it’s like

An 18+ live music and events bar in Huddersfield, so this one's for a night off rather than a day out with the kids.

This isn't a kids' venue. Most nights at Smile Bar are 18+ with ID checks on the door, and the events grid runs to live music, tribute nights, comedy and themed parties on Fridays and Saturdays, plus daytime quizzes midweek. General admission sits around £18, though the site is upfront that limited door tickets can cost more if you haven't booked ahead, and tickets aren't refundable or transferable unless the whole thing's cancelled.

There is one exception worth knowing about if you've got children: they run Kids Christmas Party events, so that's the one date in the calendar where under-18s get a look in. Outside of that, this is a grown-up space, with a main hall holding up to 650 standing and a smaller upstairs bar for a quieter setting.

Opening hours flex around what's on. Wednesdays and Thursdays it's open 4pm to 7pm, Fridays 4pm until 11:30pm, Saturdays from midday to 11:30pm, and Sundays midday to 7pm. On event nights it stays open later than those standard hours, so check the specific show times before you plan around them.

If you're going for a party or group booking, the venue's wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet, and it's card only, so leave the cash at home. Huddersfield Railway Station is about a 10-minute walk, and there's parking at A1 Parking behind the Premier Inn or the university car park on Wakefield Road from 5:30pm.

What are the opening hours?

Wednesday and Thursday it's 4pm to 7pm, Friday 4pm to 11:30pm, Saturday midday to 11:30pm, and Sunday midday to 7pm. Event nights often run later than these standard hours.
