What it’s like
An arts venue on Harrogate Road with film, theatre, dance, music and comedy on the bill, some of it pay what you feel.
This isn't a soft play or a farm park, it's a proper arts venue, so what you get depends entirely on what's booked in that week. The programme covers film, theatre, dance, music and comedy, and the Rush Hour Jazz nights run on a pay what you feel basis, cash in the donations jar or by card if you'd rather.
The café and bar open from 11am, Wednesday to Sunday, with homemade cakes and scones, proper coffee, and a decent line in local ales and wines. There's no kitchen doing hot food beyond that, but Canteen across the road does pizza if you need something more substantial before a show.
Tickets are bought online in advance rather than over the phone, since Seven doesn't run its own box office, and there's a 10% booking fee added by the ticketing site (it drops a bit once your order's over £25). Prices vary a good deal depending on the event, anywhere from a fiver up to £20, so it's worth having a look at what's actually on before you commit.
There's no car park on site, which is the main faff, though parking on Harrogate Road itself is free and there's two hours free in the Co-op car park nearby. Just watch the restrictions right outside the venue, no stopping there 4.30 to 6.30pm on weekdays or 12 to 1pm on Saturdays. It's about two miles north of the city centre, roughly a ten minute taxi ride if you're coming from town.
