What it’s like
Free maps, heritage trails and guided town walks that turn Rugby's rugby history into an easy afternoon out.
This is the place to start if you want to make sense of Rugby before you wander off into it. It sits in the foyer of Rugby Art Gallery and Museum and hands out free town centre maps, heritage trail guides and event flyers, so you walk out with an actual plan rather than guessing where things are.
The main draw is the Rugby Town Tours, free guided walks of about 90 minutes that take you past the William Webb Ellis statue, the Webb Ellis Rugby Football Museum and other bits of town history. Ninety minutes is a fair stretch for a younger child. If a fixed time doesn't suit, there are digital self-guided trails you can do at your own pace instead, including the Pathway of Fame and the Blue Plaques Trail, each around 10 km and easy going, which is more of a family cycle or a determined walk than a stroll.
It costs nothing to get involved, and the site itself is step-free with a ramp, a lift and an accessible toilet, so a buggy or wheelchair isn't a problem getting in. Assistance dogs are welcome too. There's no booking link listed.
