Redhill Leisure Centre

What it’s like

A leisure centre sports hall that turns into an inflatable and soft play zone for birthday parties, plus courts, gym and fitness studios.

This is a working leisure centre rather than a one-trick attraction. Three courts get booked out for sports, there's a gym with resistance and free-weight kit, and a few fitness studios running classes. The bit most parents will actually care about is the Big Bounce Bonanza party package, which takes over the sports hall for two hours with inflatables, a soft play area for under-5s, trikes and scooters.

You get exclusive use of the sports hall for the party, and it's bring-your-own catering, so you're sorting food and cake yourself rather than relying on anything on site. It's £220 standard or £190 if you've got a Gedling Leisure Card, which is a decent chunk either way but you do get the whole space to yourselves rather than sharing with other bookings.

Parking's free and on site, though it's shared with the neighbouring school car park so it can fill up at drop-off and pick-up times. Access is level throughout, with an accessible toilet, shower and a lowered reception desk, and carers get in free. Lockers use a £1 coin that you get back.

Opening hours are generous if you're using the gym or courts rather than a party: 6:30am to 9pm on weekdays, 8am to 5:30pm at weekends. Arnold town centre is about a 20 minute walk away if you fancy combining a visit with something else nearby.
