What it’s like
A proper cinema screen inside the museum, with IMAX next door if the big kids want the giant screen version.
Pictureville is a real cinema, not a side room with a projector. Tickets are £9, or £12.50 if you want the IMAX screen instead, and both show films through the day between 10 and 5. It suits a wide age range since babies under one can come into screenings under certain conditions, and there are accessible showings with captions and audio description for anyone who needs them.
The one rule that trips people up is that under-12s must always have an adult with them, no dropping off at the door here. Walk-up works most of the time but the site flags longer waits in busy periods, so if you've got a specific film and time in mind, booking ahead saves the queue.
There's a café open daily until 4 and a Pictureville Bar running Tuesday to Sunday for cinema customers, so you can grab food either side of a screening without leaving the building. Wheelchair access is decent, with a stairlift and staff on hand, though Pictureville itself only has one wheelchair space. There's also a quiet room in the foyer with sofas and sensory toys if anyone needs a breather from the screen.
Parking is the fiddly bit. There are only three blue badge spaces out front on a four hour limit, and otherwise you're looking at the Sharpe Street car park 270 metres away or the Broadway car park in the evening for £4. If you're coming by train, Bradford Interchange is a five minute walk, which is easier than driving in for most people.
