What it’s like
A day-long adult cookery course making bread, pasta or pies, with lunch and produce to take home included.
This is a course for grown-ups, not a kids' baking party, so if you're picturing flour fights with a five-year-old, this isn't it. You pick a course, the bread making day where you learn artisan loaves without a machine and end up with a calzone for lunch, the Flavours of Italy day covering fresh pasta and tiramisu, or the pie-focused courses if that's more your thing, and you spend a Thursday or Friday morning through to mid afternoon working through it properly.
Ninety pounds a head is the going rate, and that's not a small ask for a one-off, but it does include lunch, recipe sheets and produce to take home, so you're not just buying an hour of instruction and then hungry all afternoon. Ten till two is the standard slot, which is a decent chunk of a day, long enough to actually learn technique rather than just watch someone else do it.
If you've got six or more in a group, weekend private sessions can be arranged on any of the courses, with the date and time built around you, which makes it a solid shout for a birthday, a hen do, or a family gathering that wants to do something other than sit in a pub. Gift vouchers are available too, for anyone who'd rather receive a cookery day than another candle.
