What it’s like

Live theatre, comedy and pantomime, with a café on site and a paid membership if you go often.

This is a proper stage, not a soft play with a curtain, so it suits kids who can sit through a show rather than ones who need to be climbing something. The site lists live theatre, comedy and pantomime performances, which covers a lot of ground from a Christmas panto with a seven-year-old to a comedy night if you fancy leaving the kids with a grandparent for once.

There's on-site food and drink, with a pre-order service so you're not queueing at the interval while the second half starts without you. If you end up going a few times a year, the Priority Live membership gets you 20% off food and drink there, plus early access to tickets, which matters if pantomime season sells out fast the way it usually does.

The membership itself is worth knowing about before you commit to it. It's £45 a year, renews automatically after 12 months unless you cancel first, and you've got a 14-day window to change your mind and get a refund. Handy if you're a regular, a bit of a faff if you only fancied one panto and forgot to cancel.
