What it’s like

Soft play for 1 to 13s with a two-hour cap in the school holidays, and adults pay to get in too.

Indoor soft play on several levels, aimed at anything from wobbly one-year-olds up to thirteen-year-olds who still fancy the big slides. The site mentions long sleeves as a good idea, which tells you the slides are the fast sort, and socks have to stay on for the whole visit or your child can't play at all.

Prices split by age and by when you go. Off-peak, which they list as Monday, Thursday and Friday in term time, it's £7.25 for a 4 to 13 year old and £5.15 for a 1 to 3 year old. Weekends and school holidays bump those to £8.95 and £6.95, and babies from six months are £1.95 or £2.85. Adults pay on top, £2.45 off-peak and £3.95 at peak, which is the bit that stings if two of you are going in. SEN entry is £6.50 peak and £5.25 off-peak, with one free carer, and there are quiet sessions with the venue closed to everyone else on Sunday mornings 9 to 10am and Thursday evenings in the school holidays.

In school holidays they may limit you to a two-hour slot, so a wet Tuesday in August is worth planning around rather than drifting into at noon. No pre-booking for ordinary soft play, you just turn up, though parties are booked online and run two hours with a cold buffet, squash and a host. Tables are first come first served, no reserving, so if you've got a group you'll be hovering for somewhere to sit.

Food is on site and the kitchen does hot food, but nothing from home comes through the door, not even a bag of crisps, and it's card only throughout. Parking is free in their own car park.

Plan your visit

How much is it for a child?

Off-peak it's £5.15 for 1 to 3 year olds and £7.25 for 4 to 13s. Weekends and school holidays it's £6.95 and £8.95, and babies from six months are £1.95 or £2.85.

Do adults have to pay?

Yes, every adult entering is charged. £2.45 off-peak, £3.95 at peak, so a family of four adds up quickly.

Do we need to book?

Not for soft play, you can turn up. Parties are booked online.

How long do we get?

Two hours during school holidays and other peak periods. Off-peak it isn't capped the same way as far as they say.

When is off-peak?

Monday, Thursday and Friday in term time. Weekends and school holidays count as peak, so you'll pay more.

Can we bring our own food?

Outside food and drink can't be brought in or eaten on the premises, and there's a kitchen on site doing hot food.

Is there parking?

Free on-site car parking. Every venue has its own free car park apart from Lakeside, which uses the shopping centre's.

Is there anything for a toddler?

The age range starts at 1, with a lower price band for 1 to 3 year olds and £1.95 entry for babies from six months. You'd need to keep them away from the bigger kids on the slides.

What should the kids wear?

Socks have to stay on the whole visit or they can't play, so bring a spare pair. The site suggests long sleeves to avoid friction burns on the slides.

Are there quieter sessions?

They run quiet SEND sessions on Sunday mornings 9 to 10am and Thursday evenings in the school holidays, with the venue closed to everyone else. One carer goes free for SEN guests.

Can we book a birthday party?

Two hours with a cold buffet, squash, a party host and free adults on most packages. Minimum 12 guests, from £12.95 a child off-peak and £16.95 peak. Their wider party range runs from £10.95 to £22.50.

Can we reserve a table?

Tables are first come first served with no pre-bookings. That includes adult guests at parties.
