What it’s like
66 acres of walled garden, adventure park and an animal barn to explore, with a Victorian estate feel to the whole day.
The animal barn and the adventure park are the two things kids will drag you towards first, but the Victorian walled garden is the bit to save for last, it's a proper set piece rather than a quick wander. There's also pumpkin carving and slime making listed among the activities, so this isn't just a farm with a slide bolted on. With 66 acres to get through, this is a full day out rather than a quick stop before lunch.
Entry is £10.50 for a child and £9.95 for an adult, or £39 for a family of four, which stings a bit for a farm visit but the grounds are big enough to justify it. Under-2s and carers go free. There's a 10% discount for students, NHS workers, Special Forces and over-60s if that applies to you.
Booking online is recommended to guarantee entry, though you can buy on arrival if there's space. If you only fancy the café, you don't need to pay park entry at all, it serves food from 9am to 3pm with jacket potatoes and paninis, and there's a restaurant doing Sunday lunch and afternoon tea in the Manor House if you want to make more of it. Dogs are welcome round the estate and parking's free with an overflow field for busier days.
It's open 10am to 5pm from April to September and 10am to 4pm the rest of the year, daily, apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Ground-level access runs throughout with ramps into the shop and café, so a buggy or wheelchair shouldn't hit any real obstacles.
