What it’s like
Get up close with alpacas, Highland cows and goats, feed them, groom them, and follow a hands-on farm tour.
This is a proper hands-on farm visit rather than a look-through-the-fence one. You buy a £2 bag of feed at the entrance and go round meeting alpacas, goats, ponies, donkeys, Highland cows, rabbits, sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks, with staff on hand for an interactive tour explaining how the place actually runs. Older toddlers and primary-age kids get the most out of it, walking and grooming the bigger animals like ponies and goats, though under-ones go free so a baby in a carrier isn't a problem.
Entry is £7 for adults, £4.50 for kids aged 5 to 15, and £3 for toddlers aged 1 to 4. That's before feed, so a family of four with a couple of feed bags is closer to £20 than the headline price suggests. There's an on-site café doing tea, coffee, cakes and snacks, and you can bring your own picnic too, though eating is only allowed in designated spots, not while you're wandering round with the goats.
Worth knowing before you set off: the site sits on a clay bed, so after rain the paths turn properly muddy and pushchairs or wheelchairs can have a rough time of it, even though the gravel and road planings are laid down to help. Parking is limited on site too, with some on-street spaces nearby as backup. The farm's open every day from April to October, shorter hours through winter, and they're upfront that animal emergencies or bad weather can shut things at short notice, so it's not a place to build an entire day around without a plan B.
If you're marking a birthday, they run bespoke parties for groups of 8 to 15 kids at £12.50 a head, about two and a half hours including a farm tour, with an optional £3pp upgrade for invites and party bags. School visits run 10am to 2pm at £7.95 a head.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost to get in?
Adults are £7, kids aged 5 to 15 are £4.50, and toddlers aged 1 to 4 are £3. Under-ones go free, and feed bags for the animals are £2 extra.
Do we need to book ahead?
Walk-ups are welcome for normal visits. Booking's only needed for groups of 10 or more, or on special event days.
What are the opening hours?
April to October it's 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 10am to 5pm at weekends. November to March it drops to 10am to 3pm daily, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Is it suitable for a toddler?
Yes, toddlers from age 1 are catered for with their own entry price, and under-ones go free. The animal feeding and petting suits younger kids well, though the walking and grooming activities are more for older children.
What's there to eat?
There's an on-site café with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cakes and snacks made with local produce. You can bring your own food too, but you'll need to eat it in the designated picnic areas.
Can we feed the animals?
You buy a £2 bag of feed at the entrance. You're not allowed to feed them anything else, and you shouldn't walk round eating your own food near them either.
Is it OK for pushchairs and wheelchairs?
The paths are laid with gravel and road planings to keep them firmer, but the ground sits on clay, so after rain it gets muddy and harder going. It's worth discussing access with the farm before you arrive if that matters to you.
Is there parking?
There's limited car parking on site, with some on-street parking on the surrounding roads if that fills up.
What happens in wet weather?
The farm stays open in most weather, but paths can turn muddy quickly because of the clay ground underneath. They also say they may close at short notice for severe weather or animal emergencies.
Can we book a birthday party there?
Parties run for groups of 8 to 15 children at £12.50 a head, about two and a half hours long with a hands-on farm tour included. There's a £3pp upgrade for invites and party bags.
How long do people usually stay?
There's no fixed visit length for a general day out, but birthday parties run about two and a half hours and school visits run from 10am to 2pm including lunch.
Do school groups visit too?
School visits run 10am to 2pm at £7.95 per participant, with the day including lunch.
