Nantwich Players Theatre
WHERE
Nantwich
What it’s like
Amateur theatre putting on pantomimes and youth productions, with an interval bar and ice cream to keep things civilised.
This is a proper local theatre run by the Nantwich Players, and the panto is the obvious draw if you're bringing children. They also put on Youth Theatre productions and smaller Studio Theatre shows, so there's more going on across the year than just the Christmas show.
Performances start punctually at 7:45pm, which is worth building your evening around if you've got a young one who flags after 7. The site is firm that latecomers cannot be let in until the interval, thanks to the auditorium layout, so leave a bit more time than you think you need to park and get seated.
Tickets go on sale online about three weeks before each production opens, from 9am on the first day, and you can also book by phone during the week or on Saturday mornings. There's a £1 booking fee per ticket whichever way you book it, and bookings are non-refundable unless the theatre itself cancels, though you can add an optional payment to make yours refundable if your plans change. During the interval there's a Tea & Coffee Bar with ice cream, and a licensed bar runs before, during and after the show for the adults.
Parking right outside is step-free, but evening parking is charged by Cheshire East, so if you'd rather not pay, Snow Hill car park is free and about a ten minute walk. The building has a hearing loop and is wheelchair accessible, and wheelchair spaces can be booked directly, though they do take up two seats.
