What it’s like

Indian brunch at weekends, street food all day, and a big screen for the match, with a 2-hour limit on your table.

You come here to eat, and there's more of a day in it than you'd think. Brunch runs weekends from 9am to midday, street food plates turn up daily from 11 to 4, and there's an afternoon High Chai if you'd rather sit over tea and snacks than a full meal. A 175 inch screen shows Premier League matches, and the same building has a shisha lounge and cocktail bar, so the evening has a different shape to the morning.

Kids get their own menu, so you're not splitting a curry three ways and hoping. The naans are the bit to order more of than you think you need: garlic, butter and chilli are all £4.75, cheese is £5.50 and keema £6.50, with an assorted bread basket at £13.50. Rice is £5 for basmati or £6 for pulao. Vegetarian, vegan and Jain menus are all listed, and the meat is halal.

The catch is timing on Friday and Saturday nights. Under-18s have to be out by 9pm, so an early table is the one to book if you've got children with you, and the whole table is limited to 2 hours. Tables are held for 15 minutes if you're running late, and no-shows or late cancellations cost £25 per person, though it's free to cancel 24 hours ahead. Booking isn't technically required, but the site advises it, and card details are taken to hold the table.

A few bits worth knowing before you go. Bringing your own cake is fine and costs £3 per person, served with vanilla ice cream; balloons and banners are allowed but no confetti, and no alcohol can come in with you. Parking on site is limited, with overflow at Argyle House car park after 7pm on weekdays and from midday at weekends. Groups of 8 or more get sharing menus and Christmas party menus from £34 per person at weekday lunchtimes.
