What it’s like
Waffles, crepes, gelato and milkshakes, with late opening that suits a dessert run more than a quick afternoon trip.
It's a dessert-led cafe rather than a play centre: the menu is freshly made waffles and crepes, cakes, gelato, milkshakes and smoothies, plus teas, coffees and a brunch menu. For kids, the pull is the choosing. A crepe with a pile of toppings, a gelato cone, a milkshake in a flavour they'll spend ten minutes on. That plus brunch covers a family meal without anyone having to negotiate a children's menu.
The hours decide when you go. Monday's closed, Tuesday to Thursday they don't open until 5pm, and Friday and Saturday run from noon to midnight. Sunday is noon to 11pm. A weekday visit is really an after-school or after-tea trip, so if you've got a four-year-old who's done in by 6pm, the weekends or a Friday after school work better. School holidays change it: from 12pm Tuesday to Thursday while the schools are off, which makes a daytime trip possible.
Parties are the other reason to come. They host celebrations in the cafe and take the full menu for your guests, and they'll accommodate requests for decorations or other catering. You need to book in advance for that, so it's worth sorting a date before you promise anything to a seven-year-old.
Brunch on a Sunday, a milkshake stop with a nine-year-old after swimming, or a birthday for twelve: all sit comfortably here. A weekday evening is the quietest, and the food is the whole point rather than a side to something else.
