What it’s like
Cold water swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, laser tag, archery and climbing, all on one lake site outside Lisburn.
This is a lake day with a proper activity list rather than a paddle and a sandwich. Kids from six up can have a go at kayaking on a sit on top, stand up paddleboarding on the calm water, or the lifeguarded cold water swim, and there's laser tag, archery and a climbing wall on land if the water stuff isn't for them. Most sessions run an hour, which is about right for one activity and a snack after, though you'll want to plan your visit around more than one if you're making a day of it.
The cold water swim is £6.50 and it's genuinely cold water, lifeguarded but shared with paddleboarders and kayakers during open sessions, so it's not a quiet lane swim. Anyone under sixteen needs a parent or guardian with them in the water, which is fair enough given what's sharing the lake, but worth knowing before you get changed.
Opening hours are a bit particular: weekday evenings are a narrow 6 to 7pm slot on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while weekends open up properly from 10am to 5pm. That weekend window is really your best bet if you want to try more than one activity without watching the clock. There's a café on site and outdoor play for younger ones who aren't doing the water activities, and they take group bookings of 25 or more for parties or bigger outings.
