What it’s like

Multi-level soft play with Astra slides and cargo nets, open school holiday weekdays with a proper café menu and licensed bar.

The frame is the main event here: Astra slides, cargo nets to climb and ball pits to disappear into, spread over multiple levels. There's a toddler zone set apart from the bigger frame too, so a wobbly walker and a confident seven-year-old can both find their level without getting in each other's way. Anyone over 4ft 10 is out, which rules out some of the older siblings but keeps the frame sensible for the kids it's built for.

The catch is the calendar. This one only opens Monday to Friday during school holidays, 11am to 2.30pm, so it's not a rainy-Tuesday-in-term-time option. That short window does mean it's not usually rammed, which is no bad thing if you're wrangling a toddler on your own. Child entry is £4.50, which is easy on the wallet for a couple of hours of climbing and sliding.

The café does proper food rather than just crisps and juice, hot baps, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, salads and ice cream sundaes, plus hot and cold drinks. There's a licensed bar too, so the adults aren't stuck with squash while the kids go round again. It's worth timing your visit around a meal, since the session length and the food on offer make an easy late-morning or lunchtime plan.

Birthday parties run at weekends, separate to the weekday soft play sessions, with slots at 11am, 1.30pm and 4pm. £300 covers two hours for up to 20 children including food, drinks and party bags, with extra children at £12.50 each. Booking is needed for both the parties and the regular sessions, so this isn't one to turn up to on spec.
