What it’s like
Weekend robotics classes where kids from 7 to 17 build real robots and pick up coding in JavaScript, C, Arduino and AI.
Building the robot is only half of it. The lessons here mix mBlock-based coding with actual hardware, so a seven-year-old might start on Scratch-style blocks while an older teenager who already codes goes straight into Arduino or AI projects. Everyone gets a robotics kit for the session and a laptop already set up, so there's nothing to buy or install beforehand.
Sessions run at weekends only, Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and a shorter Sunday slot from 10am to 12.50pm. That Sunday window is tight if you're coming from across town, so Saturday's the one to go for if you want a proper stretch of building time rather than a rushed hour. A trial lesson is £19, which is a fair way to see whether your child actually wants to sit through the coding parts before you commit to a full course.
Lessons happen at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College on Parkshot, not at a dedicated robotics centre, and there's free parking nearby at Old Deer Park. Ages run from 7 up to 17, so this covers a genuinely wide span, with the youngest starting on visual coding and the oldest tackling real programming languages alongside the robotics builds.
