What it’s like
Themed puzzle rooms in Nottingham, from pirates to spies, with an hour on the clock to escape.
You've got an hour, a locked room and a theme to get stuck into: Pirate House, a Spy Agency mission, Mafia, or the Wizard and enchanted chest game. It's all puzzles and teamwork rather than anything physical, so nobody needs to climb or crawl to get through it. Gamemasters give clues along the way and don't cap how many you can ask for, so a stuck team isn't a doomed team.
This one's for eights and up, and it says something that under-16s need an adult over 18 in the room with them, no exceptions. Teams of 2 to 6 work best, with the per-head price dropping the bigger your group gets: £30 each for two players down to £20 each for six or more, and £18 flat for under-15s. Open every day, 10am to 10pm, so there's plenty of slots to choose from.
It's on the first floor with a staircase up, so no lift and no wheelchair access here, worth bearing in mind if anyone in your group needs step-free. Leave the snacks and the phone camera outside too, both are off-limits once you're in the room. They'll also want 24 hours notice if your plans change and you need to shift the booking.
Parties are on offer if you're after a bigger celebration, with groups up to 22 at once or 44 if you spread it over three hours.
