What it’s like
Eleven themed escape rooms in Nottingham with a one hour time limit, built for teens and adults rather than young kids.
This one's for the older kids, not the toddlers. Escapologic recommends 12 and up for most of its eleven rooms, with Butcher restricted to 18+ and Howitz to 16+. Under-12s can only go in if an adult is with them in the room, so this is a treat for a teenager's birthday or a family team who fancy a proper puzzle challenge rather than a soft play session.
You get 60 minutes on the clock once the door locks, working through riddles and puzzles in a themed room with up to five people. Off-peak pricing runs from £23 to £28 a head depending on group size, dropping to £15 a head on the family ticket for 2 adults and up to 3 children. Peak prices (weekends, and bank holidays specifically) push £26 to £31 a head, so a weekday slot is the cheaper option if you can manage it.
There's no food on offer, so eat before or after, and once you're locked in you're committed for the full hour, so the site is blunt about using the toilet first. Booking is required rather than optional, and there's a zero tolerance alcohol policy, so this isn't the venue for a boozy stag do that's already started drinking. There's no disabled access at the Nottingham site and no on-street parking either, though St James NCP is about five minutes' walk away.
