What it’s like

Kids lead, groom and feed a donkey for a 45-minute taster session, with pony sessions for the over-eights.

The main event here is the donkey taster session. Your child leads a donkey around the farm themselves, has a go at grooming it, and finds out what it actually eats before helping prepare the food. It's a proper hands-on 45 minutes rather than a quick pat through a fence, which is exactly the sort of thing a three or four-year-old remembers for weeks.

If you've got an older one who wants more, pony activity sessions are on offer from age 8, though those need booking by email in advance with your dates and numbers, as spaces are limited. The donkey sessions suit the younger end from age 3 up, so it's worth deciding which one you're actually there for before you turn up.

Opening hours are the catch to plan around: Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm, and closed at weekends. That rules out a spontaneous Saturday visit, so this one wants a bit of forward planning around school pickup or a day off. Entry's £5 for adults and £3 for under-18s, with under-3s and carers or support workers going free, which is fair given how narrow the age band for paid entry seems to be aimed.

There's no booking link for general visits, but the pony sessions do need that email sorted ahead of time. Birthday parties are on offer too, if a donkey-led birthday sounds like the way to go.

Pony activity sessions are for ages 8 and up. You need to email the farm with your name, contact details, preferred date and number of places, as spaces are limited.

Do we need to book?

General visits don't need a booking link, but pony sessions do, by email, as places are limited.

Is it suitable for a toddler?

The donkey taster sessions start from age 3, so it's aimed a little older than a typical toddler farm visit.
