What it’s like

South Indian and Keralan cooking in the city centre, known for its dosas, thalis and properly plant-heavy menu.

This is a Keralan kitchen rather than the usual curry-house list, so expect dosas, sambar and house-made chutneys alongside seafood curries and a genuinely deep vegetarian and vegan section. If you've not had South Indian food before, the lunch thali is the easy way in, and it's apparently one of the more popular orders here along with the dosas.

It's open every day from midday, running through to 10pm most nights and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, so there's room for a long lazy lunch or a proper evening sit-down without feeling rushed either end.

Booking isn't compulsory but they'd rather you did, especially if you're going at peak lunch time or on a weekend, when a table without a reservation is more of a gamble. There's no need to hunt for a space right outside either, with several car parks close by including Kent Street, Cowan Street and Woolpack Lane if you're driving in.
