What it’s like

Ofsted-registered care for up to 11s, with a soft play room, a baby sleep room and a big enclosed garden.

This is a childcare setting rather than a drop-in play session, so the first thing to know is that you book a place, not a slot. Days run Monday to Friday, either a long day from 7.30am to 6pm or a short day from 9am to 3pm, and there are drop-off and pick-up options around school hours for children who go to big school.

Inside there's a soft play room for the younger ones and a separate sleep room for babies and toddlers, which matters if your child still naps and you'd rather they weren't trying to do it on a mat in the middle of the noise. Outside, the garden is large, enclosed and laid with all-weather surfaces, and there's a big climbing frame in it.

The site says children up to 11 are cared for in an Ofsted registered setting, so it stretches further up than most nurseries do. Food is included through the day: breakfast, though the last sitting is 7.45am, an after-school fruit snack around 4pm and a light snack at about 5pm. If your child has allergies you tell the setting and bring a care plan.

Drop off and pick up carry an extra charge on top, which is the sort of thing worth knowing before you work out whether the hours suit your week.
