What it’s like

Pantomime and family theatre shows with old-school perks like ice creams brought to your seat.

Pantomimes and family theatre productions are the main business here, and the nice touch is how they handle the interval. Order your ice cream or drinks when you book, and it gets brought straight to your seat rather than you queueing in a corridor with a fractious five-year-old.

There's no online booking listed, so it's box office or phone if you want tickets: 01904 501935, open 10am to 2pm Monday to Saturday. That's a narrower window than you might expect. If you've already booked and fancy adding a round of drinks later, the same phone line during the same hours will sort it.

Access is properly thought through: two wheelchair spaces at the rear of the stalls with companion seats next to them, a level access door on the right of the building, and an accessible toilet just off the right corridor. There's a hearing loop too, which is worth knowing if anyone in your party needs it.

It reads as a proper theatre experience rather than a soft play with a stage bolted on, so go in expecting a sit-down show rather than anything hands-on.
