What it’s like

A walk through the murder rooms, victim histories and suspect theories of Whitechapel's most notorious cold case.

This one's less museum, more crime scene. You climb through the building with the murder details written up on the walls as you go, working through the victims, the suspects and the police investigation of the time, trying to piece together a mystery that was never actually solved. It's a proper attempt at getting you to solve it yourself with the clues laid out, rather than just reading plaques.

There's no set time slot, your ticket runs any time between 9:30am and 6pm on the date you've booked, so you can turn up when it suits and take as long as you like. Booking online saves you money though, £12 against £14 if you just rock up and pay on the door, and kids aged 8 to 16 are £10 either way. Given the subject matter, an 8-year-old is a sensible floor rather than a suggestion.

Worth knowing before you buy: tickets are non-refundable, so if your day changes you'll need to email them to shift the date rather than just cancelling. Parking round here is genuinely tight, mostly permit-only streets, with a public car park on Mansell Street or Shorter Street your best bet. It's an easy walk from Tower Hill, Aldgate East or Shadwell if you're coming by tube instead, which honestly is the less stressful option.
