What it’s like

Sixty minutes locked in a themed room working through puzzles and riddles as a team, with the game master watching the clock.

The whole point is the hour on the clock. You and your team get a briefing, then you're in a themed room together working through puzzles and riddles to escape before time runs out, with a free group photo at the end if you crack it (or don't, no judgement). There are 15 rooms to pick from, so if this one goes well there's somewhere to go next time.

It's a private booking, so it's just your group in there, no randoms added in to make up numbers. Under-12s need an adult with them in the room, 12 to 16 year olds can sometimes play without one as long as an adult stays on site, and 16 to 18 year olds can go it alone if an adult signs the waiver and hangs about nearby. Under-6s aren't charged, and the site's quite blunt that a sleeping baby in a carrier has survived more than one escape room session.

Turn up on time or it costs you. Fifteen minutes late and the Game Master starts your timer anyway, twenty minutes late and the booking's cancelled outright with no refund and no rebooking. That's a properly stiff rule for a family day out where someone's always faffing with car seats, so build in slack. Payment's card only, no cash, and once you've paid there's no refunding or rescheduling if it's within 24 hours of the slot.

Worth knowing before you book: this isn't a wheelchair-accessible venue, some rooms involve stairs, and one room (the Titanic one) has you crawling through a tunnel, so that's a no for anyone who can't manage tight spaces. No photos or filming once you're inside either, so the memories stay in your head rather than your camera roll.

Plan your visit

How long does the game last?

Sixty minutes once your game starts, and that clock doesn't wait for stragglers.

Do we need to book in advance?

Walk-ins are accepted if there's space, but booking online or by phone is the safer bet, especially since it's a private room just for your group.

Is it OK to bring a toddler?

Under-12s need an adult in the room with them, and under-6s aren't charged at all. The site even says babies have slept through the whole thing in a carrier.

What happens if we're running late?

Fifteen minutes late and the Game Master starts your timer regardless. Twenty minutes late and your game is cancelled with no refund or rebooking, so don't cut it fine.

Can we use it for a wheelchair user?

Not really. It's generally not wheelchair accessible, some rooms have stairs, and the Titanic room involves crawling through a tunnel.

Is it good for a birthday?

There's no set party package, but they run deals through the week and weekend, and an escape room makes a different sort of birthday outing.
