What it’s like

A pottery and craft studio where kids can try hand-building, painting or screen printing over a proper course rather than a one-off session.

This isn't a paint-a-mug-and-go set up. The studio runs actual courses, pinch pots and slab work in the beginners' hand-building course, plus painting, drawing and screen printing workshops if pottery isn't the draw. It's a place for a child who wants to get properly stuck into a craft over several weeks, not just fill an afternoon.

That shapes the cost. The four week beginners' hand-building course is £172, and if your child gets the bug there's an eleven session ceramic studio pass at £418 for independent practice. Firing is charged separately too, £11 a kilo for bisque and glaze, £10 a kilo if you bring your own clay. It adds up, so this suits a family who's decided pottery is worth investing in rather than one testing the water for an hour.

There's indoor seating and food on site, so a course session doesn't mean going hungry, and outdoor space too if anyone needs a break from the wheel. Parking's there if you're driving over, and toilets are on site. Because everything's structured as courses and sessions rather than drop-in visits, you'll want to think about which weeks you can commit to before booking anything.
