What it’s like
Free storytime sessions and author events for kids, plus a shelf of children's books they can browse without a deadline.
Storytime is free and runs for babies right down through toddlers and older children, so you can turn up without booking a slot or paying for the privilege. It's the sort of thing that fits neatly into a Wednesday morning when the usual soft play options feel like too much effort.
Beyond storytime, the shop puts on author and illustrator events with readings, signings and craft activities thrown in, which is a nice way to make a book feel like an occasion rather than just another purchase. The children's section covers fiction and non-fiction across the ages.
Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, which rules out a spontaneous Sunday visit. If they haven't got a book in stock, they'll order it in and it's usually ready to collect the next day, handy if you've promised a specific title and don't want to break that promise twice.
