What it’s like
A weekly coding and robotics class in Leicester where kids move from block coding to real Python and hands-on robots.
This is a proper coding pathway, not a one-off workshop. Kids start with block-based coding whatever their age and work towards real Python, sensors and autonomous robotics, with an AI literacy module built in from the Silver band upwards. Classes are grouped by age and ability into three bands: Younger (7-10), Older (11-15) and Juniors (16-18), though the Juniors programme isn't running yet.
Every child starts with a free trial lesson on a Saturday, one hour in a real class working through graduated challenges. Whatever they complete unaided sets their starting band, and you leave with that placement in writing along with the pricing, so there's no guessing what you're signing up for. Classes are capped at eight kids with a mentor and an assistant in the room, and the same mentor sticks with your child week to week, which matters if routine and a familiar face help them settle.
Saturday classes are open to book now; Sunday and weekday evening slots are waiting-list only, so if those suit you better, get your name down and they'll email when a space opens. Sessions run two hours a week at Mowmacre Sports Ground on Thurcaston Road, and progress is marked properly, a certificate at each band from Bronze to Diamond, only awarded when a mentor has actually watched your child do the thing unaided, not for turning up. It's built with GCSE Computer Science in mind, and every term ends with real projects your child gets to keep.
Safeguarding is taken seriously here: every adult working with a class holds an enhanced DBS check, first-aid training and a safeguarding induction, and there's first-aid cover at every session. Worth knowing if you've got a child who needs a bit more predictability, mention it when you book the trial and they say they'll plan around it.

What ages is this for?
Seven to eighteen, split into three bands: Younger (7-10), Older (11-15) and Juniors (16-18). The Juniors band isn't running yet, so it's a waiting list for now if that's your child.
Does my child need to know how to code already?
No prior experience needed. Everyone starts with block-based coding regardless of age and moves on at their own pace from there.
Do we need to book?
Saturday classes are open to book directly. Sunday and weekday evening classes are waiting-list only at the moment.
What actually happens in the free trial?
Your child joins a real class for a free hour on a Saturday and works through a set of graduated challenges. Whatever they finish unaided sets their starting band, and you get that in writing along with the pricing, no obligation to enrol.
How long is each session and how often?
One two-hour session a week, either Saturday or Sunday mornings and early afternoons, or weekday evenings once those slots open up.
How big are the classes and who's in the room?
Capped at eight kids, with a mentor and an assistant in every class. Your child keeps the same mentor every week rather than a rotating cast.
