What it’s like
Free rhymes, Lego and wand-making sessions for kids, tucked into the weekly timetable of a local library.
This isn't just a shelf-browsing stop. The library runs a proper timetable of sessions through the week: Rhythm and Rhyme for babies and toddlers up to four, a Lego Club that pulls in the four to tens, and a Junior Reading Group for nine to elevens who want to talk about what they're actually reading rather than just borrow it.
There's a sensory side too. Sensory Stay and Play and Busy Hands and Bright Minds both build in sensory stories and play, and there's a quiet hour Lego session for anyone who needs the volume turned down. One-off events pop up as well, a Harry Potter wand making class for six to tens and a Hallowe'en fun night for three to eights among them, so it's worth glancing at what's on before you plan a visit around a specific activity.
Everything here is free, which makes it an easy one to slot into a week rather than a big planned outing. Hours run 9.30am to 5.30pm most days, Thursday stretches to 8pm, and Saturday closes a bit earlier at 5pm. There's wifi if you need to get anything done while the kids are at a session, and no booking link is mentioned, so turning up on the day for the regular clubs seems to be how it works.
