What it’s like
Free rhymes, Lego and Duplo clubs and storytime sessions across the week, with no booking needed.
This is a proper working library with a full run of activities for kids stacked into the week, all free to turn up to. Rhythm and Rhyme sessions cover the 0-4s, Duplo Club picks up from age 3, and once they hit 6 there's a Lego Club to graduate to. Storytime runs for the 4-8 bracket, and if you've got a reader who wants a bit more structure, the Junior Reading Groups split into 7-9s and 9-11s.
None of it costs anything, which makes it an easy one to build a week around rather than a single big outing. There's no booking link listed, so the assumption is you just show up for the session that fits your child's age. Wednesday's the long day, open until 8pm, which is handy if mornings are a scramble; Saturday's a short 10 to 1 window, so don't plan a lazy start that day.
Book Week brings comic strip creation and Halloween gets its own creepy crafts session, so there's a bit of seasonal variety beyond the regular clubs. The Junior Reading Group for 7-9s takes the summer off and starts back up in September, and the whole place shuts over Christmas and New Year. Wheelchair access, an accessible toilet and parking are all there, and the wifi means it doubles as a decent spot to sit with a laptop while younger ones are at a session.
