What it’s like

Adults-only cow cuddling and Highland cattle experiences, with everyone on site needing their own ticket.

This one's for the grown-ups. The activities here, cow cuddling with Highland cattle, the Hands-on Highland Cow Safari, Highland calf handling and craft classes, are all listed as suitable for adults only, and that's down to how hands-on and up-close the experiences are. There's no standing at the fence watching either: everyone in your group needs their own ticket, so it's not a spectator sport.

Because these are small-group sessions, places are limited and the site says they sell out quickly. If you've got your heart set on the cow cuddling, that's worth sorting well ahead rather than hoping to turn up and get lucky. Booking is required across the board.

Food-wise there's the Coffee Courtyard for coffee, cake and ice cream, though it only opens at certain times during the week. On summer weekend nights the Boozy Coo bar takes over with local wines, beers, ciders and spirits, plus pizzas cooked fresh, which sounds like the better plan for an evening visit than a quick afternoon coffee. There's a picnic area too if you'd rather bring your own.

The whole thing is built around getting properly close to Highland cattle, calves included, which is the bit people will be talking about afterwards. It's a slower, more considered visit than a standard farm trip, with the craft classes adding another string if cows aren't quite your thing.
