What it’s like

A trading card game spot on Southampton's high street for Magic: The Gathering draft nights, prereleases, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh play.

This is a card shop built around actually playing, not just buying packs and leaving. The main event is Magic: The Gathering, with draft nights and prerelease events where you get a sealed kit, open the packs, build a deck on the spot and play it against whoever else has turned up that night. If Magic isn't your thing, they've got room for Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and other trading card games too, so it's not a one-game venue.

A prerelease ticket is £30, which buys you the new set before it's out anywhere else along with the games that follow. That's an event price rather than a walk-in browse, and it needs booking through their webstore in advance, they don't sell these on the door. Daily casual play is looser: no booking needed, you just turn up and find a game.

There's food on site, so a long session doesn't mean going hungry or having to duck out mid-draft. This opened on the high street in summer 2025.

It suits players who already know their way around a deck rather than complete beginners walking in cold, since a prerelease drops you straight into building and playing on the night.

How much does it cost?

A Magic: The Gathering prerelease ticket is £30. That covers your kit and the event itself.

Do we need to book?

For events like the prerelease, yes, through their webstore, they're not sold on the door. Casual daily play doesn't need booking.

What actually happens at a prerelease?

You get a kit for the new set, open the packs, build a sealed deck from what you pull, then play it against other players there. It's built to be casual rather than hyper-competitive.
